Update capital allocation strategies and product pricing in light of the Update capital allocation strategies and product pricing in light of the implementation of Basel III
The major banking reforms such as Basel III and CRDIV in Europe have changed the way capital is allocated by banks. The dust is beginning to settle and we are in a situation where the rules are much clearer and we can see how banks are coping with the regulatory changes on a practical level, restructuring portfolios and allocating assets accordingly. What banks are now focusing on is how to cope with balancing the different demands which different regulations have placed on them, and tailoring their allocation strategies accordingly. Banks are also going though great efforts to comply with regulations such as the EBA Stress Tests, Asset Quality Review and FRTB. The final key issue is the raising of a higher quality of capital and the use of new, more exotic capital raising instruments such as AT1 and CoCo bonds.
