UPM is currently building a global compliance team as part of Legal Function to support UPM's businesses and functions in upholding the integrity and ethical standards of UPM and helping them in resolving day-to-day challenges in relation to compliance. The team will also be in charge of UPM's Code of Conduct and the various compliance programs under it.

We are now looking for a

COMPLIANCE COUNSEL, SOUTH AMERICA

based in our office in Montevideo, Uruguay.
 
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
Your main tasks will be to assist the Chief Compliance Officer in ramping up, developing and implementing a global compliance program. The program aims to help the organization to prevent, detect and respond to compliance risks and to control and monitor such risks. More specifically, your responsibilities will include compliance risk management, compliance trainings and communication, management of policies and procedures, and compliance investigations. You will also help the businesses and functions in resolving various compliance related matters. In this position you will report to UPM Chief Compliance Officer.
 
Requirements
- LL.M. or other relevant university level degree.
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience of compliance related matters, ideally at a compliance department of a multinational
corporation.
- Good understanding of key compliance areas such as
   - anti-corruption
   - anti-money laundering;
   - trade sanctions and
   - competition law
- Fluent in written and spoken English and Spanish with excellent communication skills.
- Project management skills are seen as an asset
