If you marry good technical skills with multi-disciplinary understanding of risk management, this role offers intellectual challenge, and a platform for recognition. Join our Enterprise Wide Risk Management function as Securitisation and Wholesale Credit and Counterparty Credit Risk Stress Testing Manager, and you'll interact widely with risk and business colleagues, and develop a 'big picture' view from a unique perspective.

Enterprise Wide Risk Management (EWRM) deals with risks that manifest themselves at the aggregate level of the bank. So we take a strategic, bank-wide view of risk management.

We manage areas like capital and liquidity risk, which are entity driven (rather than pure credit, market or operational risk views), as well as risk appetite and policy framework which apply across the bank globally. We also own the end-to-end risk management framework, how it fits together, and work on its adoption and consistent application across the bank. This makes us a key area in delivering security to both customers and shareholders.

What you'll do

This is a newly created role reporting to the Head of Stress Testing Execution, where you will have significant ownership of regulatory and internal stress testing throughout our wholesale credit portfolios. You'll be part of a wider stress testing execution team, and ultimately your work will feed into the bank's ICAAP submissions to our regulators. But you'll offer more than simply executing someone else's models, stretching your critical thinking skills to provide insight on how to manage our portfolios and counterparties most effectively, and playing an influential role in developing counterparty credit stress testing methodologies across our three lines of defence.

Whether you're securing the data you need or feeding back your concerns, you can expect to interact widely with colleagues from a range of functional and business areas, including wider credit risk and counterparty risk areas, capital risk, and front office teams. You'll also monitor the changing requirements of our regulators to make sure we stay fully compliant.

What you'll bring

This is an intellectually testing role, and we expect that you'll have a track record of academic success to at least undergraduate level, although it's your career to date which will interest us more.

We're looking for someone from a risk management or banking background, and you'll need a broad understanding of wholesale credit portfolio modeling, counterparty risk, and of P&L. Experience working with stress testing models would be valuable, and may prove to be an advantage, but a background in market risk, credit risk, or a career in the front office would all be interesting, and consultancy or experience at a regulator may be suitable. Whatever your working history, you'll need to demonstrate well-attuned critical thinking skills, and an ability to look beyond accepted solutions to consider new possibilities.

Technically, while you won't need to be a model developer, you should be a strong Excel user – including proficiency with VBA – and have a good understanding of a statistical analysis package like SAS, as well as SQL.

How we'll reward you

In return, we offer a competitive salary plus 30% cash and benefit funding programme that can be tailored to suit your individual needs. In addition, we provide a wide selection of exclusive lifestyle offers, development and learning programmes, services and support designed to help you manage and balance your work/life priorities. For more information on our benefits, please visit our website.

If you're a new joiner to the bank, please note that we carry out a credit check as part of our referencing process.

If you are experiencing any technical issues when applying for this role, please contact us for assistance.

At RBS, we are focused on becoming the UK’s number one bank for trust, customer service and advocacy by 2020. We are simplifying our business, concentrating on the areas where we can lead the market, and placing our customers at the heart of everything we do.
