Tackling financial crime is a key objective of the UK’s primary financial services regulatory, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). The Santander UK Financial Crime Team has a diverse remit covering the monitoring and prevention of a range of criminal activities that have their origins in different pieces of legislation e.g. Proceeds of Crime Act, Fraud Act and Terrorism Act amongst others. 
To this end, Santander UK is transforming the Financial Crime landscape within the bank by developing a robust financial crime / anti-money laundering capability within its Financial Crime function. In order to comply with Money Laundering Regulations Santander risk assesses customers and screens both customers and payments against information provided by regulators, in order to identify issues that could potentially impact the organisation's reputation and financial position.

The alerts that are generated are reviewed by the Customer Escalations Team (CET); which is part of the wider Financial Crime Team. Within CET there are three work streams:

To further strengthen our Customer Escalations Team, we are looking to recruit a number of hands-on Financial Crime Investigators to work within one of the above work streams. Team members will be cross-trained in all work streams. The role holder will use their professional judgement to make recommendations and decisions on alerts generated from systems. The role is a great opportunity for someone who would like to apply their high level financial crime knowledge in a new environment, working for a growing bank.
