I work as an SBA loan officer for the Small Products Operations Team at U.S. Bank in San Diego. I underwrite loans between $100,000 and $300,000 for small businesses. The challenges my team faces mainly deal with assessing and mitigating risk while meeting the strong demand for small business loans in our regional market areas. The quality of financial and other information is crucial to the credit decision, so clear and effective communication with borrowers and their CPAs, as well as internally with the bank's sales team, is crucial to maintaining the bank's reputation for credit quality.
