Having over 15 years risk experience I seek to share my knowledge and experience with agencies through job engagements with a view to contributing to improved control systems and enhanced decision making. Risk often requires out of the box thinking. As a Risk Manager in an organisation that has millions of activities every day I am often looking for something that no one else is aware of. The role demands me to be original, creative and highly analytical. I also need to adapt to a new process and evaluate that process through its complete cycle. Risks don’t just occur at a fixed point in the cycle. I need to see the big picture and identify risks across the life cycle. I ask of myself if risk does not look at the business in a different way to other systems/views how will it be able to add value? There is a need to draw out expertise and knowledge, facilitate thinking and documenting the results so that they are understood at all levels of the organisation. I enjoy seeking to understand the business both in breadth and depth as well as the industry as a whole. As an excellent communicator (I particularly like to listening to others with different roles and skill sets while explaining concepts both persuasive and credible – especially in conflict situations). In summary I enjoy complexity and developing ways of breaking it down into simple components through continuous improvement and with the aim to enhance organisational learning.
