I am an emergency management leader with experience on both local and Federal levels. Substantial experience in media relations and analysis. Provided substantial strategic and crisis communications assistance on local and national levels, most notably following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita for the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Strong background in Congressional relations, Intergovernmental relations and Public relations. Fostered close working relationships with local and State governments, as well as, Other Federal Agency's (OFA's) whose roles changed dramatically following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita due to several Homeland Security Presidential Directives and the Post Katrina Emergency Reform Act. Served, both regionally and nationally as the Department of Homeland Security's (FEMA) local and national spokesperson. Serving as the interim External Affairs Director in the Office of the Regional Administrator (ORA) in FEMA Region II and External Affairs Officer in FEMA Region V, I staffed FEMA Administrator Paulison and Senior FEMA officials, and served as an advisor to senior staff. I also was charged w/ working w/ the regional administrators emergency analyst in creating gap analysis and risk assessments for all regional states.
