A Visionary Cyber, Payment System Risk Strategic Advisor Director and Founder of Informed Risk Decisions Ltd The lexicon describing how we protect information is long and colourful: Cyber Security, Information Security, Information Assurance, Information Warfare, Data Security, Payment Security and many others besides! However, whichever term you feel most comfortable with, I have directly contributed to leading the evolution and thinking of how we define these problem domains and the threats they have to address. These strategic insights helped me develop and promote reasoned and pragmatic risk management strategies to protect business; where necessary striking the risk balance between compliance and security. Most recently my focus has been in the domain of Payment Security and how one balances the requirements in Payment Card Industry Standards with the diminished threat in a mature Chip and Pin environment in Europe. At the same time I have been instrumental in the risk thinking in how on-line customers are authenticated for payments and banking. I am equally well versed in assessing the risk considerations in protecting highly sensitive information be that in government or in business context. I engage at C-level in business to shape and inform their risk management decisions and investments in security to protect their business. I clarify threats and the potential consequences while demystifying the technology and the risks it presents. I have a deep understanding of the wider international regulatory environment achieved through enlightened engagement with senior officials and politicians in governments in order to guide their future policy and regulatory initiatives. I am an experienced Information Security Leader with a proven record in managing and creating new Information Security teams. I am a gifted and polished international public speaker on a wide range of security and risk issues.
