I am seeking to increase my knowledge and network in the Community Relations & Social Planning and Development profession and also to learn from other global professionals on what best practices works for them and how I can continually improve in this unique profession. As the Coordinator for Impact Area Issues for the Newcrest Lihir Gold Project, my role is to manage legacy issues whilst developing governance modules and strategies towards empowering the impacted communities achieve some manner of financial dependence that reflects the Lihir Sustainable Development program. The key areas I work on are the medium to long term financial investment, integrated community development programs, community relations and involuntary resettlement. I have worked in both the mining and petroleum industry for the past 7 years. During this time I have worked closely with clients and stakeholders in various professions which gave me the opportunity to learn about leadership, management, cross cultural communication, professionalism and team work. Through my experience I have learned that I am especially skilled at managing work processes and dealing with challenges toward empowering my team members achieved set goals and objectives. I want to continually improve our current practices in community relations and social development that fosters change in the community’s ability to embrace developments taking place on their land. As a rather ambitious and proactive person, I always seek to challenge the status quo in anticipation of this ever changing society we live in. I thrive in both individual and team oriented work environments and can easily represent the company in a professional setting.
