Elliot Mashumba is a Revenue Assurance Manager within Risk division at Econet Wireless Zimbabwe. I am a GSM telecommunications practitioner with over fifteen years of GSM experience, in both technical and commercial areas after some several years in IT field. Over the past years of my working experience I have developed myself into an all rounder in the GSM mobile business covering areas of billing and revenue assurance fixed and wireless mobile communications companies. My earlier years have seen myself utilizing my educational background in delivering Information Technology solutions in both oil retail and telecommunications service industries. My experiences in startup operations in Zimbabwe, Botswana, Nigeria and Kenya have developed my overall understanding of challenges and risks in delivering telecommunications services in Africa. My current role has exposed me to all aspects of the business; commercial, financial and technical. Desire is to ensure proper risk management practices are adopted in business and communities to the advantage of economic development and improvement of lives of people especially in less privileged societies. My contribution will be to support best practices and standards in risk management and ensure that risk management is an enabler and not show stopper.
