I'm a senior derivatives/structured finance originator and structurer who took a package from my company and am now focused on establishing a Stage 2 career in public service where I can apply my synergistic range of capital market expertise (Derivatives, Structured Finance, Credit Markets, Mortgages and Insurance). To that end, I elected to spend much of the fall of 2009 studying for the FRM designation (“Financial Risk Manager” granted by the Global Association of Risk Professionals. I am currently pursuing the PRM designation. As the deal team leader I had to be intimately familiar with all aspects of the specific transaction, the underlying market for the particular asset and the various deal documents as well as the macroeconomic sensitivities, rating agency, compliance and accounting issues - effectively the quarterback working with market risk, trading, credit, legal and operations specialists….but I had to know the entire playbook.
