My name is Jana Baumann, and I am the Director of Human Resources for Great Lakes Dermatology. I joined Great Lakes Dermatology with 6 years of Human Resources experience, as well as an additional 2 years of healthcare management. My goal is to help foster an environment that facilitates a team of exemplary healthcare professionals with a commitment to excellence in quality and compassionate patient care. My challenges are the same as those shared with many. The economy and the changing world of health care. There seems to be a cloud of uncertainty surrounding independently own health care organizations and I feel a strong sense of responsibility and desire to help the company I work for, as well as others to come up with strategies to weather the coming storm. I work in Human Resources but I tend to get myself involved in many other functions of the inner workings of this company, including areas I don’t feel completely qualified to participate in the decision making process, such as finance and billing. I’m looking for knowledge, advice, and anything that will help me steer this company in the right direction. The company I work for is in a good place now, and moving in the right direction; I just want to keep it that way. I feel I work for an incredibly rare entity in the business world today, a company driven by strong morals and values with a true commitment the patients we care for. The patients come first, with NO exceptions. The employees are valued and well taken care of. It would truly be a shame and a great loss if companies such as this fell to the wayside to big box health care and changes that may squeeze the life out of those unprepared to deal with the changes.
