I am the Chief Finance & Administrative Officer of the Mauritius Sugar Syndicate, the marketing arm of the sugar industry of Mauritius, which is involved in the marketing and sales of sugar produced in Mauritius and receiving the proceeds therefrom. The receipts are mostly in euros and US$. In addition to being responsible for the financial accounting and management, I am responsible for currency hedging with a view to maiximising the returns from these currencies which are eventually converted into the local currency, that is the Mauritian rupee, and distributed to the sugar producers of the country after deduction of statutory and operational costs of exporting such sugars. I am also responsible to reduce the currency as well as the operational risks involved in the activities my organisation is involved in . My past record in financial and risk management has been very postive and I have gathered much practical experience as well. I feel that being part of the global risk community will enhance my knowledge but will also permit me to share my experiences in risk management which may help my peers in the field. i will be very interested to participate in workshops and forum where treasury risk management and financial risk management are involved. I will also be interested to provide articles which can be of importance and good use to my peers.
