I'm a civil engineer interested in working in the UK (London or near London). I have one year’s work experience as a structural engineer in Greece working for METKA, a leading engineering and construction company, primarily focused on delivery of complete power generation plants as well as metal constructions for a range of applications in the energy, defence and infrastructure sectors. I was involved in two major projects in Turkey and Romania where I regularly attended meetings with colleagues from Greece and abroad and took responsibility for presenting the project’s progress, discussing potential problems and developing solutions. In August 2011 I completed a Masters degree (Msc) in Environmental Design and Engineering (CIBSE, Energy Institute, as well as the CIOB approved.) at the Bartlett's architecture department, UCL, where I combined the principles of construction, low carbon design and efficient energy system implementation (specifying building fabric, heating and ventilation systems). Currently I am in Greece, working as a civil engineer in a consulting-research associate role within the office of the Greek deputy Minister of Interior Decentralization and E-Government, specifically focusing on public works and construction. My contract is not permanent and will end late April. As this job comes to an end I intend to be back in London looking for employment. I am familiar with the vacancies for Sustainability Consultants/Environmental Engineers. I find these roles very interesting and would also like to extend my search to the sustainable construction area. Ideally I would be interested in a role below the level of a Principal Sustainability Consultant, as I believe that my experience is best suited to working within rather than leading a team. I am experienced in modelling and simulation techniques of buildings using TAS software, evaluating and rating a building’s energy performance using SAP assessor according to British standards. Moreover I dealt with environmental master planning projects and finance in sustainable design. My awareness of current UK legislation, including Building Regulations, makes me able to assist with energy strategy reports for planning submissions, providing renewable energy technology appraisals carbon emission calculations and evaluating the buildings energy performance. Moreover, I am competent in energy modelling work, writing reports and developing proposals as evidenced by my studies and my work experience. If such opportunities are available or will arise in the future I would like to learn more about and be considered for such roles. Ideally I be interested in working in a professional, innovative and visionary team offering with expertise in environmentally aware and sustainable development. I would welcome working towards obtaining any necessary relevant assessor qualifications as part of my continuing professional development.
