Michael Carpenter is a 35-year veteran of the investment business, founder of his financial industry consulting firm CarpenterAssociates, and author of the thought leading book, The “Risk-Wise” Investor- How To Better Understand and Manage Risk, published globally by John Wiley & Sons, Inc. As a result of over 15 years of research, he developed a new, user-friendly, non-technical, holistic way for anyone to better understand and more effectively manage any kind of risk. He developed and trademarked the term “Risk-Wise” to describe his process. Mike’s “Risk-Wise” method and book identifies how to convert risks that occur from painful nightmares or disasters into inconveniences and even potential opportunities. His insights simplify this critical, yet often intimidating and misunderstood subject and actually reduce the risk in risk management. In addition to consulting and writing, Mike conducts presentations and workshops around the country for business people, investors, financial advisors/ and boards. He focuses on how to demystify risk and risk management, minimize the likelihood and impact of unpleasant negative surprises, and more easily determine which risks to avoid, which to accept and manage, and which to accept outright. Prior to establishing his independent consulting business in 2003, he held national level, leadership positions with premier investment firms for over 20 years. Mike has also conducted hundreds of investment workshops and seminars around the U.S. for investors and financial professionals alike. In addition, he’s been a guest lecturer at The Securities Industry Institute at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and hosted investment industry programs on the campuses Harvard and Columbia Universities. Throughout his career Mike has personally advised investors, financial professionals, businesses and investment firms facing turbulent economic environments, including raging inflation, stagflation, and stratospheric interest rates to disinflation, recessions, panics, crashes, booms and busts.
