I am a Risk Management Professional with more than 7 years’ experience in both Project and Risk Management in the construction field. I have had the opportunity to join Orascom Construction, which is an international construction company, as a Talent Program Engineer; which is a rotational program across all the core departments that exposed me to different departments, types and sizes of projects; both locally and internationally. Working in all of those fields, locations and projects widened my knowledge, made me realize the importance of seeing the big pictures and connecting the dots. Going through this program sparked the idea of initiating and building a formal risk management department – as there was none in the company; I saw this opportunity and made it real. After establishing the risk management department - from scratch, I am now leading all the risk management activities across the whole company, guiding the company’s projects in the area of risk management, and delivering consultation advice for mega projects such as Power Plants, Tunneling, Fertilizers, Metro and Buildings projects. I have been able to develop risk management framework, policy, procedures and templates for all the risk management activities and plans for the whole company and its projects. I have proven experience in using qualitative and quantitative analysis along with Monte Carlo Simulation to estimate contingencies and generate scenarios. Finally yet importantly, my involvement with the Audit and Internal Control team as a Guest Auditor has helped me gain broader view of the process and areas for improvement. In the area of leadership, I have gained great experience by serving for many years as The Operational Manager and Intern Development Director for Global Next Leadership Institute – USA. I was responsible for all of the operations in Egypt, all the developmental areas and the internship programs – both Egyptian and American. Now, I am serving as a Special Consultant at which I contribute to the strategic approaches of the company and special projects. I have had the opportunity of assisting the company’s Founder/Director in numerous conferences and educational programs inside and outside of Egypt such as Germany, The Czech Republic, Italy, The United Kingdom and China. Moreover, my educational and teaching background served me very well in understanding and utilizing all the knowledge; as I have earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Power Engineering and followed it by a Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Power Engineering in the area of Water Solar Desalination. In addition, I hold three professional certificates from The Project Management Institute (PMI) namely; the Project Management Professional (PMP), the Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) and the Professional in Business Analysis (PMI-PBA). Finally, I am now enrolled in the Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA) with the University of Liverpool. Furthermore, I have been delivering project management and risk management training for hundreds of attendees for the past few years, and few business analysis sessions. In addition, I am serving as an In-House trainer for the company providing project management and risk management training. Finally, I am aspiring to challenge myself, move forward and contribute to the areas of project management, risk management and strategic management. I am volunteering as a subject Matter Expert with the project management institute [PMI], serving as a member in the educational committee with the risk and insurance management society [RIMS], and had a speaking engagement with RIMS Dubai, 2017.
