Vice President, Hays Companies - Marine & Energy Practice I have 17 years' experience in business insurance/risk management, specializing in energy, technology and general commercial risk transfer programs. I began my career in London in 1995, moving back to Houston (where I grew up) in 1996. Since then, I have worked for a variety of national and local insurance brokers in Houston. I have been involved with marketing and servicing the insurance needs of large onshore and offshore operators, drilling contractors and other energy-related/marine-related companies. I have extensive contacts within the global insurance market, particularly in London and the United States. I attended Washington and Lee University, graduating "cum laude" with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1995. After five years working in the marine and energy insurance markets, I enrolled in Rice University’s Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business, graduating with a Masters in Business Administration degree in May 2002. I am a member of The Houston Club, Jones Partners and the Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship. I recently concluded four years of service as an officer of the Houston Mariners Club, most recently as "Skipper" (President) from 2009-10 and as President of Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business' Alumni Association (representing graduates of Rice University's MBA program) from 2007-12 and as Chair for the Houston Technology Center's Service Provider Network (2009-10). I have also been active in the Houston chapter of the Washington & Lee Alumni Association. I am licensed in Texas as a Property/Casualty General Lines Agent and a Surplus Lines Agent. I am also working towards the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Certified Marine Insurance Professional (CMIP) designations. My goals are to continue growing our business and fulfilling the servicing needs energy/marine firms and companies active in marine/offshore industries.
