Hi,

Marcus Cree, currently heading up Nth American solutions team in the capital markets risk area for SunGard. I've been in risk implementing, selling or consulting on risk management systems for just under ten years.

Looks like a great site, very rich in content and very varied in media options for the content. I look forward to being a very regular visitor.
Hi Marcus,

You are also free to create your own group in our community. We don't like a branding group because we are independent, but if you would create a group on a specific body of knowledge, invite people from within and outside community, start conversation, share knowledge you are welcome.

We are planning to become a largest independent Risk community, so the first adapters and people who profile themself will have a huge advantage.

Thanks for the advice/guidance. I will set that up as soon as I can (hopefully this weekend).

Marcus
I am a specialist in corporate governance, risk assessment, internal controls and process improvement for non-financial companies. I retired from a major US offshore drilling company in 2008 and am now focused on building a consultancy around my skill set. I became involved in the field in 2003 as the company lead for the creation and operation of a Sarbanes Oxley control structure which I developed and operated through 2008 without material weaknesses or significant deficiencies in internal control. I am passionate on the subject of risk and am an advocate of global risk standards. I advocate extension of risk assessment and corresponding controls and pre-planned remedies across entire organizations rather than concentrating solely on mandated financial reporting controls.

I also have considerable experience with enterprise financial systems, internal financial reporting, enterprise portals and am striving to expand my knowledge of large integration systems which can process data from various systems and business units to provide consolidated, concise, real time information to management.

I am intelligent, innovative and can break down complex processes into simple terms. I tend to analyze heavily and then go to the heart of the matter. I am very gregarious and socially adept. I relate well with senior management and am comfortable dealing with individuals at the highest levels of the organization up to and including the board of directors as well as staff. I am an excellent team leader. I'm very well connected in the energy industry, with public accounting companies, systems providers and consultants in Houston and, to a certain extent, worldwide.

I relish problem solving; I'm a huge fan of Sherlock Holmes and do not believe that any problem is unsolvable. I like to be interested in what I am doing as this keeps me engaged. At this stage in my life I'm shifting to an advisory and leadership mode from grinding in the trenches, but I attack all of my projects with tenacity. A happy warrior, if you will.

I firmly believe that I can and do add value to projects in my scope, and willingly advise when another individual or organization might be better suited. You can find my LinkedIn profile at www.linkedin.com/in/ecollinsii or search LinkedIn for Edward Collins.

Cheers, all, and much success to you all.
Introducing myself: from Steel to GMO
Dear All, I am happy to be part of this group.
To quickly introduce myself I have 10 years of experience in Sales&Marketing in various industries and had an opportunity to start a new carreer in Risk Management 7 years ago.
I work 5 years for ArcelorMittal, world wide leader in steel manufacturing, essentially for construction (beams), cars and household appliances.
Following that merger in 2006 I felt it was time to exercise my RM knowledge and will to learn more in another industry, I chose Syngenta, world wide leader in Pesticides and other plant protection programs.
I wrote GMO in my title because it is a significant % of the turnover of the company and growing.
I can assure you going from manufacturing steel in blast furnaces at 1600° to biotech is a challenging move and very interesting.
In both company I worked at the headquarters to embed, organize and create risk management reporting.
I look forward to exchange on experiences, do not hesitate to contact me for any subjects.

Best regards,
Stephane Martin

PS: I am french, from Paris, you knowm that arrogant part of France...;-)))

Dear Nathalie, thanks for your question, biggest risks in our industry are linked to: litigations in US, intellectual property, HSE, changes Tax regimes, Non-Ethical behaviors, business in emerging markets, raw material prices, product registration and pipeline not meeting expectations, competition law and corporate/information security.
Most important issues, that subject is dealt a bit differently, any type of issue, would it be a low or high financial impact, if not handled properly can have a huge impact on reputation. Company has to do the right things, prove it and communicate on it.
Hope I answered, do not hesitate to come back to me.
Hi Everyone,
By way if introduction, I "graduated" from the IT disciplines some time ago and have been in the management consulting world since 1980. I've been a practicing Business Continuity consultant since the mid-80's and more recently become heavily involved in Contract and Commercial Risk management. The Risk management domain has grown exponentially and I have an interest in all forms of Risk. Currently the challenges of managing contracts and commercial relationships is a growth area were we are providing some thought leadership, and for my efforts I'm the South African representative for the BCI and the IACCM as well as a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants here and Australia.
I am the Information Security Officer at the fifth larges Credit Union in the USA. I've been engineering/consulting/managing in the Information Security Space for about 18 years and before that, in IT for another 20 years. I've been a systems/application programmer and software developer for a good part of that time as well as a network engineer/consultant.

My greatest challenges now are getting a grip on deploying an Identity Management solution, integrating financial and IT risks in an Enterprise Risk Management framework and perhaps the never-ending search for good InfoSec "productivity metrics.

I'm looking for some good discusions on these and other topics and getting to network with my peers.
Hello Everyone, my name is Larry Castle. I have been doing Risk Management from the Disaster Recovery world for over 30 years. I have work fortune 100 corporations, fortune 500 corporations, Mom and Pop operations, Federal government, State Government and the US Miliatry Intelligence relm. From the risk management of the IT world in general all though we have all done it for year without ever calling it IT Risk management this has finally come into it's own world and now we have dedicated resources that do just this rather than it being a secondary job for someone who is already over loaded with their main position. I am interested in hearing from other members that have been involved before it became a primary position, tell me how it has changed the previous positions you have held. Also of course looking for the next consulting engagement or full time positions if you hear of any.
Larry Castle GDRP, PM, ITIL,
Hello everyone!

I am just starting my career and hoping to work in political risk analysis focusing on emerging markets, given my interest in the intersection of international business and international relations.

I'm a recent graduate of the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University in Washington, DC where I received my Masters in Security Studies. I recently published my Masters thesis, “On Demand Armies: Private Military Company Involvement in Internal Conflicts,” which explores the risks and benefits of using Private Military Companies (PMCs). My research for that thesis is what initially drew me to political risk analysis and its importance in emerging markets.

My professional background includes experience in media relations, strategic planning and development.

I'm excited to have the opportunity to actively participate in the GlobalRisk Community and look forward to many stimulating discussions.

If you work in political risk analysis, I encourage you to join me in the Political Risk Networking Group.
