Boris asked me to attend the CFO magazine CPM conferene n
Dallas last week which I did on behalf of the GRC. I regret to report but that
despite the fact that the forum's pre event marketing materials indicated there would be at least
two forums where risk was a focus, neither appeared. In fact, with the
exception of two or three presentations, there was a major void on this issue
among presenters. Even where it was addressed it was almost peripheral. One key
exception was the presentation of the EVP, CFO for DFW airport in Dallas. His
organization is clearly committed to integrating ERM into the planning process
and in fact, ERM is one of six major planks used for planning there.
I wish I had better news on this forum as it was over 200
senior finance executtives favoring CFOs and Treasurers. CFO mag does this
twice a year and thus the good news is that they are very open to my suggetion
that they address this void as early as their next forum in January 2012. I
will be following up with their principles accordingly and thus, stay turned
for news in the coming quarter.
As a partner in rPM3 Solutions, LLC, our fimr is intent on
aggresviely driving the link between risk and performance and we believe thta
that is the future of ERM and all serious attempts to manage risk for results.
