Beauty routines no longer end at the bathroom shelf. Shoppers increasingly view skin, hair and nail health as an outcome of nutrition and wellness, which is why the oral beauty supplements market has become a focus for nutrition companies, beauty brands and investors alike.

Often called nutricosmetics or ingestible beauty, these products come as capsules, powders, gummies and ready-to-drink formats. They typically include collagen peptides, vitamins, minerals, botanical extracts and antioxidants positioned to support skin, hair and nails from within.

Why Inside-Out Beauty Is Gaining Attention

Wellness culture has blurred the line between beauty and health. Consumers who invest in topical skincare often want complementary solutions, and supplements offer a way to address concerns holistically.

Format innovation also supports adoption. Flavored gummies, sachets and beverages make daily routines enjoyable, helping brands attract shoppers who dislike traditional pills.

Ingredient Trends and Science

Collagen peptides remain the most recognized ingredient, but the field is broadening. Hyaluronic acid, ceramides, vitamin C, biotin, plant-based antioxidants and probiotics are increasingly featured as brands pursue differentiated claims.

Clinical evidence is becoming a major battleground. Companies that invest in credible studies and transparent dosing can separate themselves from competitors relying only on trend-driven marketing. Shoppers and regulators alike are paying closer attention to substantiation.

Regulation and Claims

Rules governing supplements and health claims differ across regions. A statement acceptable in one market may be restricted in another, so global brands must tailor messaging carefully. Quality assurance, third-party testing and accurate labeling are essential for protecting reputation.

Sourcing is another consideration. Marine, bovine and plant-based ingredients appeal to different audiences, and ethical or allergen-related preferences influence formulation decisions.

Channels and Consumer Behavior

Direct-to-consumer subscriptions, pharmacies, specialty beauty stores and online marketplaces all play a role. Subscription models are well suited to supplements because visible benefits typically require consistent use, which also supports repeat revenue.

Personalization is emerging as a differentiator. Quizzes, skin assessments and tailored regimens help brands build relevance and encourage long-term engagement.

Challenges

  • Consumer skepticism about how quickly results appear
  • Strict and varied claim regulations
  • Competition from low-cost generic products
  • Supply chain pressure on premium ingredients

Strategic Takeaways

  • Beauty brands: Extend skincare franchises into ingestible formats to strengthen routines.
  • Nutrition companies: Add beauty-focused claims backed by credible evidence.
  • Retailers: Educate shoppers with clear guidance on usage and expectations.
  • Investors: Favor companies with strong research credentials and loyal subscribers.

Conclusion

Oral beauty supplements sit where nutrition, dermatology and consumer lifestyle intersect. Companies that combine scientifically grounded formulations with honest communication and convenient formats are best positioned to earn lasting trust as inside-out beauty becomes a standard part of personal care.

A question related to classification of instruments between trading and banking book.

We have an interesting question from one of our members.       "We usually perform OTC FX transactions with clients backed-to-back on the market (with Banks). Now we are going to perform a FX swap (i.e. Spot + forward) JPY/EUR for the Bank account for 1 week at the longest. The purpose is to get EUR place @ CB for LCR compliance purpose (no trading purposes). Bank's Management think that this should be considered as a trading position and therefore be classified within the Bank's trading book.…
