I am the Chief Finance & Administrative Officer of the Mauritius Sugar Syndicate, a company involved in the marketing and sales of all sugars produced in Mauritius. I am also responsible for the treasury and risk managment of the organsiation. Since our sugar proceeds are in foreign currencies and we need to convert them into the local currency in order to distribute to the sugar producers after deduction of statutory and operational expenses, it is the duty of the company to maximise the returns of the producers. The company thus resorts to currency hedging. The company makes use of sophisticated hedging instruments which enable it to protect the producer price. I may therefore share my experience in risk management to the community at large.I may also provide advice as deemed necessary. I can participate in risk management activities, treasury activites as well as finnacial activities.
