Global Threat Analyst, Gemological Institute of America (GIA), Carlsbad, California
• Under the direction, and in concert with GIA Corporate Security and Safety Policies, responsible for coordinating travel security for GIA personnel around the globe and for coordinating risk to GIA on a global basis by performing the following duties.
• Tracks GIA employee travel and provide status reports to the Director, Corporate Security and Safety (DCSS) in a timely manner.
• Administers the GIA website for the global travel program
• Supports expatriate relocation with regard to security and safety information and support.
• Prepares and places relevant information (country travel warnings, travel security tips, etc) on the GIA travel program website.
• Identifies and develops resources for travel related threat information on a global basis including Internet, databases, public record, media, law enforcement, government sources and personnel, contracted, and other related resources. Determines local threat environment for travel to high threat and special circumstance countries.
• Researches resources and extracts risk information related to GIA travel.
• Establishes liaisons internal to GIA both at headquarters and operational locations which foster timely and efficient exchange of risk related information.
• Establishes and maintains a framework for globally standardized threat analysis product templates and threat rating system.
• Proactively monitors emerging threat and trends worldwide that may impact GIA security planning and potentially impact stability of operations. Provides rapid assessments of "breaking" security situations as needed.
• Provides risk liaison, monitoring, and briefings for GIA operations around the globe as well as for new project planning processes.
• Assists in the development of threat response contingency plans and emergency response for GIA sites globally.
• Develops and publishes threat advisories, informational reports, or security awareness bulletins as directed. Provides reports on strategic or specific security issues for senior management.
• Serves as the central collection point, collates, and provides analysis of GIA security incident reports on a global basis and identifies possible trends.
• Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with intelligence and law enforcement agencies, as well as industry related counterparts, involved in the collection, evaluation, and distribution of security information.
