I am Marco, an accomplished Information Security Manager, Team Leader, and Compliance Officer. I bring forward with me over 23 years of working experience in ICT in various roles, in both the enterprise and as a consultant at client's sites. Furthermore, I am considered an expert by peers and colleagues in Information and Cybersecurity, Audit, Risk, and Privacy.
For the last sixteen years, my career has been dedicated exclusively to information technology security, cybersecurity, risk management, audit, and privacy, in increasingly important roles. In my last three roles, I have been the lead security manager and have held a relatively large, multinational team.
I hold the most significant information security certifications, including the Certified Chief Information Security Officer (C|CISO), CISSP, and four ISACA certifications (including CISA and CISM), besides being an ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Auditor. I am also regularly involved as a subject-matter expert in the committees which write exam items for several certifications, including the CISA, CISSP, CCAK, and CSA Zero Trust.
I have been for many years an accomplished Security Architect, having built three Security Operations Centers and Incident Management functions in various companies (among which, two of the three major telecommunication operators in Germany). Likewise, I have set up, trained, and led several security teams in security operations, security architecture, and audit and compliance.
I received an Executive MBA from CIMBA of Italy and IOWA University, as well as cybersecurity diplomas from Harvard and Arizona State University. Furthermore, I received a Chief Risk Officer degree from Carnegie Mellon University's executive education program. In my youth, I have obtained degrees in philosophy, mathematics, and computer science in the United States and Italy, as well as a PhD in philosophy.
Time permitting, I am recurring invited as a public speaker at security conferences around Europe, and I like running (I have completed eight marathons, one of which was a 73-Km “ultra”) and biking.
I moved from Italy to Germany in 2006, and besides Italian and English, I put up almost decent German-speaking skills.
I am married and live with my wife, Erika, and our 6-year-old daughter, Emma-Rosa.
