Types of amendments that can be done
Modifications to the Core Field
The legal name of the company, the address of the main location, and any other locations are all changes to the Core Field. A proper office must approve any changes to the Core Fields within 15 days.
Modification in Non-Core Field
Some fields don't need clearance from the appropriate office, and non-core field adjustments can be made online with ease. Non-core fields include all fields other than those that fall within the category of core fields.
Modification In Email Or Mobile Number
After online verification on the common GST site, the change in email or cell phone number requires verification by OTP (One-Time Password).
Eligible applicants to change registration details
The following type of taxpayers may update their registration information:
- New applications and common taxpayers
- Changes to TDS/TCS registration for those who have UIN cards and are affiliated with UN agencies, Embassies, or other persons who have been alerted
- foreign non-resident taxpayer
- GST specialist
- Provider of online application and retrieval services
The fields which cannot be modified
- Since PAN numbers are the only thing used for GST registration, any changes to PAN card information are not permitted.
- Because it requires a new PAN number in the first place, changing the business's constitution is not possible.
- Since GST registration is state-specific, moving a business from one state to another is not possible.
In addition, the primary authorised signature may be altered on the condition that a new primary signatory be added. The principal signatory cannot be changed if the requirement is not met.
Processes to do modifications in core fields
Follow the step-by-step instructions below to modify the information in a registration form's core fields:
Step 1: Click www.gst.gov.in to see the GST homepage.
Step 2: Sign in to the GST portal using the given credentials.
Step 3: From the main menu, select the "Services" tab. Hover your mouse pointer over the "Registration" tab.
Step 4: To access the site, click on "Amendment Of Registration Core Fields."

Step 5: By default, the "Business Details" tab is shown. By selecting the Edit icon, choose the field you wish to change.
- Edit the specific information you want to change.
- By selecting the calendar icon, choose the "Date Of Amendment."
- In the "Reasons" tab of the online GST registration form, specify the change's justification.
- At the bottom of the page, select the "Save" button.
- Click the "Continue" button at the bottom of the page after validating all the "Business data."

Step 6: If anything has to be changed, pick the "EDIT" button at the bottom of the page after clicking the "Principal Place of Business" link in the main menu.
- Edit the necessary information, and then repeat the process to input "Reasons" and "Date Of Amendment."
- At the bottom of the page, select "Save."

Step 7: Select the "Additional Places of Business" tab from the main menu, then input the information for "Number of Additional Places," which has to be filled up with data.
- Select "Add New" from the menu.
- Edit the appropriate information in the applicable field
- Continue using the same "Reasons" box and "Date Of Amendment" after that.
- The "Save" and "Save" buttons are located at the bottom of the page.
Promoter or partners tab
Step 8: From the main menu, select the "Promoter / Partners" option.
- To enter the information for the promoters and partners, click "ADD NEW."
- Enter the information and upload the necessary documents to serve as identification
- Continue using the same "Reasons" box and "Date Of Amendment" after that.
- At the bottom of the page, select "Save" and "Continue."

Step 9: Click the "Verification" tab's checkbox after choosing that tab.
- Select the authorised signatory from the drop-down list in the "Name of Authorised Signatory" box.
- Put the location's name in the "Place" box.
- Use a digital signature tool such as a Digital Signature Certificate (DSC), E-Signature, or EVC to sign the form after successfully editing the field under "Amendment Of Registration Core Fields."
The acknowledgement message will be delivered automatically to registered Email and Mobile No. in the following 15 minutes after the online GST registration amendment process has been successfully completed. Once more, the tax authorities will notify the registered email address and cellphone number through SMS and email if the application is approved or rejected.
Processes to do modifications in non-core fields
Follow the step-by-step instructions below to modify the information in a registration form's core fields:
- Click www.gst.gov.in to see the GST homepage.
- Use the given login information to access the GST portal.
- From the main menu, select the "Services" tab. Hover your cursor over the "Registration" tab.
- To access the link, click on "Amendment Of Registration Non-Core Fields."
- Edit the details in the corresponding fields and tabs when viewing the Non-Core fields in an editable manner.
- Under the "Verification" tab, tick the "Verification" box.
- Select the authorised signatory from the drop-down list in the "Name of Authorised Signatory" box.
- Put the location's name in the "Place" box.
- Use a digital signature tool such as a Digital Signature Certificate (DSC), E-Signature, or EVC to sign the form after successfully editing the field under "Amendment Of Registration Core Fields."
The acknowledgement message will be delivered automatically to the registered email address and cellphone number in the following 15 minutes after the GST registration change process has been successfully completed. The Tax Official does not need to approve any modifications made to Non-core fields.
