8028302462?profile=originalOpen Banking Expo is to launch its first event in Toronto in collaboration with Equifax Canada Co. Open Banking: A Canadian Lens will address the opportunities and risks that Open Banking presents should legislative action take place as a result of the consultation Finance Canada completed in January 2019.

The half-day event will take place on September 18, 2019 in Toronto’s financial district. It will bring together a C-level audience from the financial services sector, providing them with an unrivalled forum to exchange ideas and insight into their plans, predictions and preparations should Open Banking be implemented in the country.

Open Banking Expo launched in London in November 2018, welcoming more than 300 delegates from across the globe from retail and digital banks and fintech businesses. As the first market to implement Open Banking, the agenda focussed on the customer experience and how to enhance consumer adoption across the UK. It also publishes a bi-monthly global publication, Open Banking Expo Magazine.

With Open Banking continuing to be a disruptive force of change globally, the need for increased innovation and to fully understand its opportunities and pitfalls will be critical for success and first-mover advantage. Open Banking Expo’s Toronto event will provide delegates with unique access to banking pioneers, and an opportunity to question a market that has already implemented Open Banking in its region.

Agenda highlights include: a panel debate featuring leaders from CIBC, Equitable Bank, National Bank of Canada and Royal Bank of Canada, who will reveal their early Open Banking initiatives; representation from Finance Canada to disclose its key findings; Equifax Canada Co. and data aggregator Flinks will explore the opportunities that exist within an Open Banking framework; plus the UK’s Competition & Markets Authority will offer an exclusive update on the UK’s progress so far.

Open Banking: A Canadian Lens is a joint collaboration between Open Banking Expo and Equifax Canada Co. “Helping people achieve their financial best is at the core of what Equifax does. Because Open Banking is all about enabling consumers to use their data to access new and innovative financial services, it’s a natural for us to work in this space,” explains Lisa Nelson, President, Equifax Canada on why Equifax is the exclusive sponsor of the event on September 18.

“Processing consumer data responsibly and objectively by parties that have been verified and vetted is a role we take very seriously. We do this for our clients every day. We believe Open Banking will be an enabler for all of us, including Equifax.”

C-level delegates from the leading retail banks, digital banks, fintechs, cards & payments providers and API platform providers are expected to join us on the day. Tickets start from just CAD$599 and can be booked via www.openbankingexpo.com/toronto.

Managing Director of Open Banking Expo, Adam Cox, comments: “‘We’re delighted to bring the Open Banking Expo platform to Canada. Working in association with the team at Equifax we look forward to emulating the success of the London event, bringing together high level content and the industry’s leaders to spearhead ideas, deals and connections in Open Banking.”

“Whilst Canada as a region is still in the early stages of considering Open Banking, we’re pleased to offer a platform for like-minded executives to come together to discuss and exchange views on the future of the Canadian banking market.”
