Abstract

Society is increasingly confronted with security risk. Incidents of aggression, vandalism, activism, theft, sabotage, espionage, terrorism, and cyber-crime have all made the headlines. Attacks are well planned and target symbolic landmarks and critical infrastructure such as the Twin Towers, the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, and the legendary Boston Marathon. On June 26, 2015 “Bloody Friday”, as it was dubbed in social media, targets in France, Tunisia, Kuwait and Somalia were attacked simultaneously. In the internet age, targets have become political, religious or socially relevant to the adversary, and span vast regional areas across the world, as was recently experienced by Sony.

The consequences are intolerable. Horrible injuries, fatalities, major infrastructure damage, and service disruptions are typical consequences of attacks. In this expert update session, Radar will provide critical insights about past security risk scenarios as an essential foundation for planning effective mitigation and business continuity strategies.

Radar Partners Inge Vandijck and Haydee Quinones will address

  • The What?, Where?, How?, With What Means?, When?, Why? and Who? questions about terrorist threats as an essential foundation for planning effective mitigation and business continuity strategies.
  • Introduce the guiding principles of how adversaries plan and execute attacks on critical infrastructure.
  • Demonstrate the essentials of assessing and mitigating threats to employees, infrastructure and the environment
