1. More opportunities for our members with new services from GlobalRisk Community

We reached the 4000 members mark last week. According to the statistics we are one of the popular hubs for Risk people on the internet now and this has not been left unnoticed by major companies operating in this space. We are partnering now with major service provides such as conference producers, recruiters, training organizations and we are planning to reach out to more companies operating in this market to help you do your job better.

Many members expressed their desire in having a possibility to find new job opportunities via our platform. We can now help them. We announced last week on a trial period of our job placement facility. Our members are welcome to post the jobs on our site FREE of charge during the trial period till May, 1. We will also mail regularly the jobs placed there to our audience.

You can find the job placement facility either via the "Job" Tab, sub tab "GRC jobs" or using the following link http://bit.ly/grcjobs or just browsing on the main page. To place your job click on the “Add a listing” link, fill in the Job title and location in the Listing Title field and fill in the Description Field. You can make your text Bold, italic, Underlined and create hyperlinks. Select your category. During the trial period we will have only 5 categories. If your job does not fit into a pre-defined category, place it under the General category.

Our 4000th member became Haakon Bakken from Norwey. We want to congratulate him and propose him to write an artcile or a post on our site and we will feature it.

By the way if you've got a frog for a picture, hurry up and replace it!

Beulah Misrole Audit protocols for ISO 31000 and ISO 27 000

Does anyone have such audit protocols and is willing to share them (automated or non automated questionaires)  - I would like to use them for internal auditing in preparation for certification or accreditation.  Should the questionaires not be automated in terms of weightings and or scorings I am willing to automate the spreadsheet and share it.

Sincerely

Beulah

Dimitar Zayakov Deception--Proof Fraud

Usually deception and fraud are assumed to be, if not synonymous, at least in a relationship of implying each other. This is a well justified view since deception is misrepresentation, distortion of truth, and hiding the truth while fraud is gaining something one is not entitled of or preventing illegally and/or immorally other persons to make a gain and causing them suffer a loss as a consequence of deception. To put it in brief, deception is the first step (a preparatory stage) and fraud…

Dimitar Zayakov The Advent of a Post-Consumerist Society

Consumerism seems to be the main characteristic of all developed societies over at least the last four decades. Developing societies are encouraged to proceed towards the same predominance of consumerist values over all other kinds of values. The prevailing assumption is that the more consumerist a country is the more developed it proves to be. Counter all expectations, this tendency does not apply in full scale to the new democracies and new markets in Central and Eastern Europe. Strangely…

Dimitar Zayakov The activity and the role of the Higher Council of the Armed Forces of Egypt

Among the Egyptian society are growing the doubts concerning the correctness of the Higher Council of the Armed Forces’ (HCAF) activity after the 25th of January revolution. The assessment of the events after Hosni Mubarak’s fall shows that both the stepping down of the former President and the unprecedented transfer of the country rule into the hands of the army has followed a pre-agreed scenario. It can be assumed that several goals have been pursued. The main one is to subdue…

If risk management is about decision making, are current risk management solutions irrelevant?

Now that the updated COSO and ISO risk management standards emphasize a connection to enterprise objectives and decision making, does this mean ERM and GRC solutions focused on risk registers and regulatory compliance are missing the true value of risk management? Will current risk management solutions evolve to integrate more decision support functionality or will standalone prescriptive analytics and other technology solutions take a more prominent role in enabling risk-informed…

A question related to classification of instruments between trading and banking book.

We have an interesting question from one of our members.       "We usually perform OTC FX transactions with clients backed-to-back on the market (with Banks). Now we are going to perform a FX swap (i.e. Spot + forward) JPY/EUR for the Bank account for 1 week at the longest. The purpose is to get EUR place @ CB for LCR compliance purpose (no trading purposes). Bank's Management think that this should be considered as a trading position and therefore be classified within the Bank's trading book.…

Plunging oil prices: curse or blessing in disguise?

The recent sudden crash of oil prices has had a major impact on the world economy, leading to many troubled faces in the international arena. The Russians fear the effects of yet another powerful hit on their economy, Venezuela seems to be considering default and the Americans are weary of the consequences for its young and emerging shale oil industry. And then you have the Middle East, where the smallest match is enough to ignite the largest fire. But are these worries really justified or…
