Jim Smith has over thirty years of professional management experience, most recently serving as founder and principal owner of Enterprise Management Group, a highly successful management consulting company.
While managing EMG, Jim also consulted with many of the firms clients. Initially Jim’s primary focus was the reengineering of the client’s Information Technology departments, usually by becoming the firm’s temporary CIO. More recently he has served as the lead consultant on corporate wide expense reduction projects. His most recent project was leading American Electric Power, the nation’s largest electric energy producer, through EMG’s highly successful expense reduction process. “TASK”, as the process is called, netted AEP over $250 million in reoccurring operating expense reductions. AEP also gave EMG responsibility for managing the reorganization of their information services. During the initial three months, EMG has reduced I/T spending by over $25 million.
Jim has consulted with clients such as Xerox, Oracle, Northern States Power, Wisconsin Electric, Principal Financial Group, Marsh & McLennan, Puget Sound Energy and Onvia.com.
Prior to his consulting career, Jim was the CEO of a Security Pacific National Bank subsidiary and held senior level management positions with TRW and GTE.
During his career, Jim has been a presenter at many industry conferences and lectured at MBA programs for USC. He has also given presentations on the business value of computing to IBM’s executives in Belgium and at an IBM customer conference in Nice, France.
