Dear GlobalRisk Community member,
We invite you to attend our first off-line event which will be held on Wed, 16 February with members of Dutch Risk Community. The idea of the meeting is that we will discuss the items, follow up with the paper ( 1 pager), present the ideas to the group, crystallize ideas, come back again.

Icesave: the Real Story
The Best Way to Rob a Bank is to own an Icelandic one!
Gerard van Vliet deposited 420.000 Euro in an Icesave account and lost it
within 6 weeks! It made him an expert on the Icelandic crisis and an angry
'wasp' for all authorities involved.
What made the biggest financial scam in the Banking History possible? Why
didn't we learn from previous examples like the Savings & Loan scams in
the 80's? What 'blinded' experts like PriceWaterhouseCoopers (the auditors
of Landsbanki), the Central Banks in Iceland/Uk/Netherlands, supervisors
and 'media'?
An eye witness story about an international as well as personal tragedy!
Gerard van Vliet is spokes person of Icesaving, the Dutch association of
savers with over 100.000 Euro in the account. He recently wrote a book,
Het Icesave Drama, on the Landsbanki/Icesave bankruptcy.
Besides that he is active as a writer (latest book: De NetwerkBijbel),
presenter and trendmaker.
I added your proposal. If you could bring AFM as a sponsor it would be great. Please let me know what they will require with regard to the event: how many people, can they provide venue, food and drinks, will it be OK to discuss more than 1 agenda points at the event?
Also please RSVP to the event if you are planning to attend.
